Wilderness First Aid with Backcountry pulse: May 30- June 1, 2025
Come join Backcountry Pulse, Rise Outside and Brown Girls Climb for a three-day Wilderness First Aid course! Wilderness First Aid is a medical training that is tailored to address the unique challenges and conditions encountered in outdoor environments. This type of first aid training goes beyond standard first aid by focusing on scenarios that are more likely to occur in wilderness or remote settings where professional medical help might be delayed.
The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course, through Backcountry Pulse, is designed to equip students with essential hands-on wilderness medicine skills within an environment rooted in inclusivity and compassion. This course blends the latest evidence-based practices with a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach that values patient dignity, identity and the diverse backgrounds of all participants.
The WFA will take place over three days at the Manhattan Kayak Co. Boathouse located at 555 12th Ave Pier 84, New York, NY 10019 and will include jackets from Arc’teryx for all participants. This course would not be possible without their generous partnership.
